How To: Clean Your Artificial Turf Adelaide

Keep Your Artificial Turf Clean With These Simple Steps

We know a common reason people have for investing in our artificial turf is for the low-maintenance aspect. Everyone deserves to be able to enjoy a gorgeous yard, but sometimes it’s not always realistic. Whether it’s because you work full-time hours, shift work or just simply don’t have the capability or access to do so, our artificial lawn is the best solution to keep your grass green all year round with minimal maintenance.

One of the main concerns that people still have is what the cleaning process is, and whether it is difficult to remove stains and other debris. This concern is common, so here are a few tips we have to keep your artificial lawn clean.

Check Your Lawn Once A Week

As our artificial turf has minimal maintenance, you don’t need to worry about mowing, lots of watering, or fertilizing the lawn. Not only is it less cleaning for you, but you’re also saving money in the long term too which is a win-win situation.

However, we do recommend cleaning your yard weekly by simply removing small debris with a brush, and lightly hosing it to get rid of any dust that may have settled. This will only take a few minutes out of your day, and not a lot of water is required.

Monthly Maintenance

Just as done during your weekly lawn cleaning, you should make sure all dust, dirt, and leaves are removed with a stiff brush. Make sure you do not use a brush with steel bristles as it will damage the lawn.

The correct way to brush your artificial lawn is to sweep against the lawn’s natural grain, grooming it into an upright position. If you have pets that regularly run around and play in the yard, brushing the grass this way may be required once or twice a month.

How To Clean Pet Waste

By installing our artificial turf, your four-legged furry friends will be unable to mess up the yard (well, in the traditional sense anyway). No more digging in the dirt, or bringing grass into the house. This being said though, they will still need to use the yard as their bathroom – but have no fear, this is expected and can easily be cleaned.

As our artificial turf range is pet friendly, the cleaning process for getting rid of their waste is simple. The first thing that should be done is to remove any solid waste with a doggy bag or pooper scooper (just the same as you would have done with real grass). The next step is to use a hose to wash down the area. The smell and residue should be washed away, but if you’ve noticed a developing odour, you can pour half water and half vinegar to reduce this smell. Yep, it’s that easy!

Food and Beverage Spills

We know South Aussies love their morning coffee, so we know that it’s possible that at some point you may drink this as you’re walking along the yard. Should you spill anything like coffee or food for that matter, there’s no need to stress. We do recommend that if you do spill something it is cleaned sooner rather than later by hosing it down with water. Even though the materials we use for our lawns at Just Quality are stain-proof, the quicker the spillage is cleaned, the less chance it has for becoming a bit of a hassle to clean.

If this is the case for a stubborn stain, we recommend using warm soapy water. If there are any other substances such as gum or natural tree sap, we recommend using a mix of mild household cleaner with water or use a low sud dish liquid. After you’ve scrubbed the lawn, leave it to dry. Once it’s dried up, brush it over to keep the glass glades upright and in good condition.
